Objective of UNO Trolls Band Together
The objective of UNO Trolls Band Together is to play all of the cards from your hand before the other players.
Setup for UNO Trolls Band Together
- Choose a player to be the dealer. The dealer shuffles all of the cards.
- The dealer deals seven cards to each player.
- They will place the rest of the cards facedown on the table. This forms the Draw Pile.
- Turn over the top card from the Draw Pile to form the Discard Pile. If you flip over an Action card (a card that is not a number card), ignore its effect and flip over the next card.
- The player to the left of the dealer starts the game. Play then proceeds clockwise.
Playing UNO Trolls Band Together
On your turn you will try to play one of the cards from your hand to the Discard Pile. You can play a card if one of the following attributes match the top card on the Discard Pile.
- Color
- Number
- Symbol
If you have a card that matches one of these attributes, you can play it to the Discard Pile. If you play an Action card, you will take a special action. See the corresponding section below for more details.
Drawing a Card
If you have a card that you can play but you don’t want to play it, you can instead choose to draw a card. If you choose to draw a card, you cannot later on your turn play the card(s) that you chose not to play.
Should you not have a card in your hand that you can play, you will draw the top card from the Draw Pile. Look at the card that you just drew. If you can play this card (following the criteria above), you can play it immediately. Otherwise you will add the card to your hand.
If the Draw Pile ever runs out of cards, you will shuffle the Discard Pile to form a new Draw Pile.
End of Turn
Your turn ends as soon as you either play or draw a card. Play then passes to the next player in turn order. To start the game play proceeds clockwise.
UNO Trolls Band Together Card Meanings
Number
Number cards have no special effect on the game. You can only play a number card if it matches the color or number of the top card on the Discard Pile.
Draw Two (+2)
When you play a Draw Two card, the next player in turn order has to draw two cards from the Draw Pile. They also lose their next turn.
You can play a Draw Two on top of another Draw Two card, or another card that matches its color. If a Draw Two card is played against you, you cannot play your own Draw Two card in order to avoid the punishment.
Reverse
The Reverse card changes the direction of play. If play was moving clockwise (left), it will now move counter-clockwise. If play was moving counter-clockwise, it will now move clockwise.
You can play Reverse cards on top of other Reverse cards, or another card that matches its color.
Skip
When you play a Skip card, the next player in turn order loses their turn.
You can play a Skip card on top of other Skip cards or cards that match its color. If a player plays a Skip card against you, you cannot play a Skip card in order to avoid the punishment.
Wild
Wild cards match all other cards in the game. Therefore you can play them on top of any other card.
When you play a Wild card, you will choose the color for the Discard Pile. The next player in turn order has to play a card that matches the color you chose, or another wild card.
Wild Draw Four
A Wild Draw Four matches all of the other cards in the game with one catch. While you can play the card on top of any other card, you may only play it if you have no other cards in your hand that match the current color. Wild cards are considered a match.
Whether the next player decides to challenge the card or not, the Wild Draw Four is wild. Therefore the player who plays it gets to choose the color for the Discard Pile. This has no impact on the success or failure of any potential challenge.
The next player in turn order has a decision to make.
First they can accept that the previous player played the card correctly. The next player will draw four cards, and lose their next turn.
Challenging a Wild Draw Four
Otherwise the next player can choose to challenge the play of the card.
If they challenge the Wild Draw Four, the player who played it has to show the challenging player their entire hand. The challenging player looks at the cards to see if the card was played correctly.
If the player did not have any cards in their hand that match the color, they played the card correctly. For incorrectly challenging the card, the challenging player now has to draw six cards instead of the four they normally would have to draw. They also lose their next turn.
If the player did have a card in their hand that matched the color, they played the Wild Draw Four incorrectly. Since they played the card incorrectly, they have to draw the four cards instead of the challenging player. The challenging payer then gets to take their next turn normally.
Wild Power of Togetherness
When a player plays the Wild Power of Togetherness card, all of the players will count up how many cards they have in their hand. Make note of which player has the most cards.
Any players that have less cards than the player with the most cards, have to draw cards. Starting with the next player in turn order, each player draws cards until they have as many cards as the player with the most cards.
The Wild Power of Togetherness card is also wild. The player who plays the card gets to choose the color for the Discard Pile. The next player in turn order either has to play a card that matches the chosen color, or they have to play their own wild card.
Calling UNO
When you only have one card left in your hand, you should call out UNO as quickly as possible. This is to let the other players know that you are close to winning the game.
If you don’t say UNO, another player can catch you. If they catch you before the next player starts their turn, you are forced to draw two cards.
Winning UNO Trolls Band Together
The game ends as soon as one of the players play the last card from their hand. The player who plays the last card from their hand wins the game.
Scoring in UNO Trolls Band Together
If you would like to play several rounds of UNO Trolls Band Together you can choose to keep score.
At the end of each round the winner of the round (the player who played all of their cards) collects all of the cards left in the other players’ hands. If the last played card forced a player to draw cards, they will draw the cards before the winner takes the cards.
The winner scores points for each card as follows:
- Number cards – face value
- Draw Two, Reverse, Skip – 20 points each
- Wild, Wild Draw Four, Wild Power of Togetherness – 50 points each
Write down the amount of points the winner received in the round. Another round is then played.
This continues until one player has scored at least 500 points. The player that scored the most points wins the game.
UNO Trolls Band Together FAQs
If you have any questions about how to play UNO Trolls Band Together, leave a comment below on this post. I will try to answer any questions asked as best and as quickly as possible.
If I play a Wild Power of Togetherness card as the last card from my hand, do I win the game?
Unfortunately the rules don’t specifically say what happens in this case.
I could see the argument for not winning since you would obviously have less cards than another player. Thus you would be forced to draw cards.
The rules do state though that a player wins as soon as they play their final card. Based on this I would say that you would win the game even if you played a Wild Power of Togetherness card as the last card from your hand.
To avoid arguments though, I would recommend players agree before playing how they will handle this situation.

Can the Wild Power of Togetherness Card be used as last discard to win?

I don't have an official answer to your question.
Some people would probably say that if you played the Wild Power of Togetherness card as your last card, it would force you to draw cards since you would obviously have less cards than the player with the most cards. Therefore you couldn't win with the card.
The rules do say though "When a player plays their final card, they win". Based on this I would interpret it that once you play the last card you win no matter what action the card does. Therefore I think you should be able to play the Wild Power of Togetherness card as the last card from your hand.
To avoid arguments it would be best if all of the players agree on how the card will be handled before you start playing though.
