Objective

The objective of NFL Fanzy is to be the first player to roll all of the logos from the current card before the other players.

Setup

  • Each player chooses a color and takes all of the dice corresponding to their chosen color.
  • Shuffle all of the Challenge Cards and place them face down on the table.
  • The players will choose which minigame that they want to play. The game recommends that you start with High-Five for your first couple of games.

How to Play NFL Fanzy

When playing NFL Fanzy there are a number of different minigames that you can play. You will choose one of the minigames to play. Most of the gameplay remains the same in all of the minigames.

When the Challenge Card is revealed all of the players will play at the same time. Each player is trying to match the symbols from the current card with their dice. The number in the top right corner of the card is how many dice need to match the symbols from the card. You will roll your own colored dice. Any dice that match the symbols from the current card can be set aside.

First roll
For this challenge you are trying to roll the logos of the oldest NFL teams. The blue player has rolled the Packers, Cardinals, and Lions which are on the card. The other three teams are not on the card. The player will keep the top three cards, and will re-roll the bottom three cards.

You will then roll the remaining dice. Any matching symbols you roll can be set aside. You will keep rolling dice and setting dice aside until you have matched the current card.

Second roll of the dice
For their second roll the blue player rolled the Eagles which is on the card. They also rolled an NFL Shield which is wild. This player still has to roll the last die (Titans) to get a symbol from the card.

The NFL Shield symbol counts as a wild. You can use the shield to represent any other symbol in the game.

NFL Shield logo
This player has rolled an NFL Shield. It is wild and can be used as any symbol.

Completing the Challenge

When you have matched all of the symbols from the card, you should call out “Fanzy”. The rest of the players will then verify if you correctly matched the symbols from the card. If you successfully completed the challenge, you will take the card. The players will then play another card.

Completing a challenge
The blue player has rolled six symbols from the current Challenge Card. They will say “Fanzy” and take the card.

If you did not complete the challenge, you have to sit out the rest of the current round. The rest of the players then compete to complete the challenge. You can only return to the game once the next Challenge Card is revealed.

Failing to complete a challenge
The yellow player said “Fanzy” and grabbed the card because they thought they completed the challenge. Since the Cowboys are not on the card, they did not complete the challenge. They have to sit out until a new card is revealed.

Sudden Death

If you end up rolling an NFL Shield on four of your dice on your very first roll for a card, you automatically win the card.

Winning a card by sudden death
This player rolled four NFL Shields on their first roll. They immediately win the current card.

Tiebreaker

Should two player complete a Challenge Card at the same time, both players compare how many NFL Shields symbols they used. Whichever tied player used less NFL Shields, wins the Challenge Card. Should there still be a tie, you will use a Wild Roll Off.

Winning a card by the tiebreaker
Both these players completed this challenge at the same time. The blue player used one NFL Shield while the yellow player used zero. The yellow player gets to take the Challenge Card because they used less NFL Shields.

Wild Roll-Off

Should two or more players tie at the end of the game, the players will compete in a Wild Roll-Off.

One of the players that aren’t tied will say GO. All of the tied players will then keep rolling their dice until they roll four NFL Shields. The first player to roll four of the symbol and shout “Fanzy” wins the game.

High-Five

In this minigame the players are racing to try and be the first to win five cards.

Shuffle the Challenge Cards and place the deck face down on the table. Turn over the top card. This card details what all of the players will try to roll on their dice. The number in the top right corner of the card is how many dice you need to roll that match the symbols on the card.

All of the players will roll their dice at the same time. You can set aside any dice you want to keep, and can immediately re-roll the rest of your dice. You should keep rolling dice until your dice match the card. When your dice match the card you should say “Fanzy” and grab the card. The other players will verify if your dice match the card. If they do you get to keep the card. If they don’t you are eliminated until a new card is revealed, and the rest of the players keep rolling.

Completing a challenge in High-Five
For this Challenge Card the players have to roll four logos for teams whose mascot has four legs. The Jaguars, Panthers and Bengals are on the card. They also rolled an NFL Shield logo for the fourth logo that they needed to complete the challenge.

Once a card has been claimed, a new card is flipped over that the players try to match with their dice.

The first player to collect five cards wins the game.

Winning High-Five
This player has collected five Challenge Cards. They have won this game of High-Five.

Double or Nothin’

In this minigame you can choose between two different cards to roll for each round.

Shuffle all of the cards. If you didn’t fill out the “Make-Your-Own Challenge Card”, randomly remove one of the cards from the deck. After shuffling the cards, divide the cards into two equal sized piles and place them face down on the table.

For each round a player flips over one card from each pile and places it face up next to the pile. All of the players will roll their dice at the same time. You can choose to try to match either of the two cards. You can even change your mind should you roll more of the symbols from the other card. Keep the dice you want to save, and re-roll the rest.

When your dice match one of the cards, you will say “Fanzy” and grab the corresponding card. The other players confirm if your dice match the card. If they don’t match, you are eliminated until new cards are revealed, and the rest of the players keep rolling their dice. If your dice match the card, you get to keep the card you took as well as the other face up card.

Double or Nothin' Round
For this Double or Nothin round there are two cards on the table that the players can potentially match. The gray player matched the card on the left. They will get to take both face up cards for completing the challenge.

Two new cards are then flipped over for the next round.

Once all of the cards have been claimed by a player, the game ends. The players will count up how many cards they collected during the game. The player that collected the most cards, wins the game.

Winning Double or Nothin'
At the end of the game the players collected these Challenge Cards. The top player collected six cards while the rest of the players collected four each. The top player collected the most cards so they have won.

Shutout

Shuffle all of the Challenge cards and place them face down in the middle of the table. For each round you will flip over one card for each player in the game minus one. For example if there are four players, you will flip over three cards.

All of the players will roll their dice at the same time. You can choose any of the face up cards to try and match. Depending on what you roll, you can even change the card you end up trying for. You can save the dice you want to keep, and you will then re-roll the rest of your dice.

When you have matched one of the cards, say “Fanzy” and take the card. The rest of the players will make sure your roll matches the card. If you matched the card, you will keep the card and your dice stay on the side you rolled. You will stop playing for the rest of the round.

The remaining players will keep rolling their dice trying to claim the remaining face up cards. Should a player take a card that you were going for, you need to try for a different card.

The round continues until all of the cards have been claimed. If there is a tie for one of the cards, you will use a Wild Roll-Off (see the corresponding section above). You will then start the next round by flipping over the same number of cards as you did at the beginning of the game.

Shutout round in NFL Fanzy
For this game of Shutout there are four players so three cards are placed on the table at a time. The yellow, red, and blue players completed one of the Challenge Cards. These three players get to take the card they claimed.

The game ends when a player claims their fifth card. They win the game.

NFL Fanzy Playoff

If you have more players than dice, or want to play a longer game, you can choose to play the Playoff minigame. In this minigame you will play four minigames and determine the ultimate winner by how each player does in all four games.

You will start with the minigame High-Five. The player that loses the first game chooses the second game that the players will play. This continues for the third and fourth games with the loser of the previous round picking the next game.

Players will score points for how well they do each round. Each minigame is scored in a different way.

High-Five

  • One point for each card you collect.
  • Five additional points to the player who won the game.

Double or Nothin’

  • One point for each card you collect.
  • Five additional points to the winner of the game.

Shutout

  • One point per card you collect.
  • You lose one point each round you fail to take a card.

After the four games have been played, the players compare their total scores. The player that scores the most total points wins the game.
