Bank Heist space

Bank Heist

The Bank Heist action is taken after all of the other players have taken their actions to place landmark blocks.

For the Bank Heist you will choose an opponent. You and the opponent each take one of the Bank Heist dials. Both players secretly choose one of the three images by rotating the dial.

When both players are ready, you will have a countdown from three. Both players then reveal the image they chose.

If the two images do not match, nothing happens as the Bank Heist failed.

No match on Bank Heist
The two players chose different images on their dials. Since there is no match, no additional action will be taken.

Should both players choose the same image, the player that landed on the Bank Heist space has succeeded. They will choose one block from their opponent’s board and place it on their own board. You can choose any block that you want from your opponent. You must follow all building rules when placing a block on your own board. See the Placing Blocks section in our rules post for more details on how to place color blocks on your gameboard.

Matching in a Bank Heist
Both players chose the ring on their dials. Since there is a match, the player that landed on the Bank Heist space gets to choose one block from the other player’s board and adds it to their own.

If you succeed in the Bank Heist you can choose to take a color block that you can’t use. If you can’t use the block, you will return the chosen block to the game tray.

Chance space

Chance

Whenever you land on a Chance space, you till take one of the facedown Chance tiles from the table. You can choose any of the tiles. Look at the tile to see what type it is. Some tiles have to be used right away while other can be held onto and used later in the game.

After you have used a tile, you will place it faceup in a discard pile next to the game tray. If all of the tiles have been used/taken, you will mix up the tiles from the discard pile and place them facedown to form a new set of tiles to take from.

Go Button Tile

Go Button

You can keep this tile to use on a future turn. When you choose to use the tile, you get to take one of the actions corresponding to landing on the GO space. You can either take a color block, try a Bank Heist, or activate a Shut Down. See the Go section below for more details.

Money Bag tile

Money Bag

Choose any block from the game tray and add it to one of your Build squares. You must follow the build rules which you can find in the Placing Blocks section in our rules post.

If there are no color blocks in the game tray that you can add to one of your Build squares, you do not get to take a color block.

Mr. Monopoly tile

Mr. Monopoly

You may keep this tile to use on a future turn. When you want to use the tile, you will move your Mr. Monopoly marker one space to the right on your Mega Shut Down tracker. See the Mega Shut Downs section for more details.

Shield Tile

Shield

The Shield tile will be kept until you want to use it. Should a player try to use a Shut Down against you, you can use the Shield tile to block it. The Shield tile only blocks one Shut Down attempt, so if two players target you it will only protect you against one of them.

You can only use Shield tiles against Shut Down attempts. You cannot use it to block Bank Heists or Mega Shut Downs.

Orange color space

Color Spaces

When you land on a Color space, take a corresponding colored block from the game tray and place it on one of the Build squares on your own gameboard. See the Placing Blocks section in our rules post for more details on how to place color blocks on your gameboard.

Free Parking space

Free Parking

The Free Parking space has no special action. You will move your token to the space and then wait for the other players to take their actions.

GO Space

GO

Unlike normal Monopoly, you only take the action of the GO space when you land on it. When you pass GO, you do not take any special action. You only take the action of the space that you end up landing on.

Should you land on GO, you get to choose one of three actions to take on your turn.

First you can choose to take any color landmark block from the game tray. You will then place it on one of your Build squares. Check out the Placing Blocks for more details.

Using the GO action
The blue player landed on the GO space. They have chosen to take a colored block to place on their board. Since they already have two yellow blocks, they probably want to take another yellow block if one is available.

Second you can choose to try and pull off a Bank Heist. Check out the Bank Heist section above for more details.

Finally you can initiate a Shut Down. See the Shut Down section below for more details.

Go to Jail space

Go to Jail

When you land on the Go to Jail space, move your token to the Jail space. You will skip the next turn. After you have skipped a turn, you will move your token normally from the Jail space.

Just Visiting space

Just Visiting

The Just Visiting space does not have a special action. Just move your token to the space and wait for the other players to complete their actions.

Shut Down space

Shut Down

The Shut Down action cannot be taken until all other players have taken any action that allows them to place a landmark block.

For the Shut Down action you will choose another player. You will choose one block to remove from that player’s board and return it to the game tray. If the player you choose has a Shield tile, they can play it to block you from stealing one of your blocks.

Shut Down example in Monopoly GO!
The player on the left just landed on a Shut Down space. As they already have two orange blocks, they would probably want to take one of the orange blocks from the yellow player’s board.
