Setup for Googly Eyes Spin

How to Play Googly Eyes Spin

To begin each turn a player on the current team spins the spinner. What you spin on the spinner determines what you will do on the rest of your turn.

Spinning Opposite Hands orange on the spinner
The current player has spun the orange Opposite Hands space on the spinner.

First you will look at the color of the space you spun. You will move your sticky pawn to the first space that matches the color you spun. You can move your pawn in either direction. If a space no longer has a token in it, you will skip that space. If all of the tokens of the color have been taken, you will choose one of the other colors and move your pawn to the first token of the chosen color in either direction.

Moving your pawn
The green player spun orange on the spinner. They can either move to the orange space on the left, or to the steal orange space on the right.

Next you will take the lenses that match the color of the token you moved your pawn to. You will press the lenses into the glasses.

Putting the proper lenses in the glasses
Since the player moved to an orange space, they will put the orange lenses into the glasses.

The artist for the current round then draws a card. They will look at the clue that matches the color they spun on the spinner. This is what the player will draw this turn. They will tell their teammates the category of the clues (Places, Objects, or Characters & Animals).

Figure out what item to draw from card
Since the player spun orange, they will have to draw cheese from this card.

Special Effects

Before you start drawing you will look at the symbol/text that the spinner landed on. What you spin on the spinner will apply a special effect to the round.

Spinning Opposite Hands on Spinner

Should you spin opposite hand, the artist has to use their non-dominant hand to draw. If you normally draw with your right hand, you will draw with your left hand. Should you normally draw with your left hand, you will use your right hand.

Spinning X2 on the spinner

When you spin the X2 symbol, the artist will have twice as much time to draw. When the timer runs out, you will start the timer again. You have until the end of the second timer in order to get your teammates to guess the clue.

Spinning Three Guesses on the spinner

Should you spin three guesses, the artist’s teammates can only make three guesses. Once the team makes all three guesses, the round ends even if there is time left on the timer.

Drawing

The goal of the artist is to draw the clue from the card. They will try to draw it so their teammates are able to guess what they are drawing.

The artist puts on the glasses. They will move the switch on the glasses all the way to the other side. Once the timer starts, they will begin drawing. While drawing the artist has to follow any rules based on the special effect in place. The artist cannot draw letters or numbers. They must remained seated while keeping the glasses on. They can’t speak or mime while drawing.

Drawing in Googly Eyes Spin
The current player has tried their best to draw cheese.

While the artist is drawing, their teammates can make guesses about what they are drawing. The teammates can make as many guesses as they want. The one exception is if the three guesses special effect is in play.

End of Round

Should the artist’s teammates guess the clue before time runs out, they will pull up on their sticky pawn to remove the lens token from the board. They will place the lens token in front of them which will count as a point at the end of the game. They will then return their pawn to the spot it was on before they removed the lens token.

Taking a lens token after guessing what was drawn
The green team successfully guessed that their teammate was drawing cheese. They will take the lens token from their current space. They will then return their pawn to the space that they were on.

Should the players fail to guess the clue in time, they take no further action on their turn.

After the current team has finished their turn, they will pass the glasses, drawing pad and pencil to the next team. That team will chose one of their players to be the next artist. The role of artist should rotate between the member of each team. All of the players on a team should get to draw once before any players gets a second opportunity to draw.

Steal space

Stealing Points

If your pawn lands on a space that says steal on it, you will play your turn normally. Should your team succeed in guessing the clue, you will take the lens token from your current space. You also get to steal one lens token that one of the other teams claimed on a previous turn. If no other teams have a lens token, you only get the token from your current space.

Winning the Game

The game ends once all of the lens tokens have been taken from the board. Each team counts up how many lens tokens they have collected. The team with the most lens tokens wins the game.

Winning Googly Eyes Spin
The top team collected the most lens tokens during the game. They have won the game.
